Senior Pet Advice

Senior pet advice is sometimes needed as our pets are living longer than ever, thanks to advances in veterinary knowledge. However, as our pets age, their needs and requirements alter. Generally, dogs over seven and cats over 10 should be considered seniors. Their needs will usually change from this age. It is important to monitor pet’s health as they age. Doing so allows us to make occasional small alterations to their daily management to ensure a fit, healthy and happy senior pet.

Senior pet checks will help to identify age related changes. I can give advice on how to support your senior pet, such as nutritional advice (including appropriate treats), ways to adapt small aspects of home life to optimise comfort and prevent future issues, and exercise and supplementation advice.

Sometimes, this will involve advice to seek veterinary help due to pain or discomfort. However, there are many supplements available to help before a pet gets to the point where they need painkillers on a daily basis.
