Nutrition & Weight Management

The advances in veterinary nutrition and weight management means that our pets are living longer. Every pet’s requirements are different, based on their body condition, lifestyle, age and any health conditions (allergies or hormone problems for example).

I am able to advise on all aspects of nutrition and weight management, whether your pet is a youngster or a pensioner pet! I can help you keep your pet in top condition using a body scoring system and teach you how to maintain their optimum weight. Additionally, advice will be given on food choice, treat choice, feeding methods and exercise.

Pet obesity is increasingly becoming an issue which causes many pets to struggle unnecessarily. Excess weight carries the same health risks in pets as people; problems such as diabetes and joint disease. Arthritis is already extremely common in dog and cats. Carrying extra body weight greatly increases the risk of this painful condition developing. As a veterinary nurse, I have seen first hand the discomfort it causes.

Safe and effective weight loss requires regular monitoring and a tailored diet plan. I can provide weight loss advice and keep regular weight and measurement checks, to ensure optimal weight loss.

The nutrition consultation will take 30 – 60 mins and you will receive a personalised plan detailing everything discussed in the consult.
